Flags

Flags may all look like a piece of fabric, but they actually break down into dozens of categories based on use, shape, material, and craftsmanship — and each category has its own regulatory requirements, material selection logic, and cost structure. This page lays out the classification from a factory perspective so you can first pinpoint which category you need before discussing specs and pricing.

Our Core Strength: Appliqué & Embroidered Flags — Premium Line

Stripes are sewn as individual fabric panels, and stars are embroidered, giving both sides a dimensional, durable finish. Compared to print-only suppliers, appliqué and embroidery is our proven strength in stable mass production, and it's the go-to craftsmanship for national flags, state flags, government ceremonies, and premium retail SKUs.

I. Classification by Use & Function

1. Government & Organizational

National flags, party flags, league flags, Young Pioneers flags, police flags, military flags, service branch flags, as well as international organization flags and provincial/municipal flags.

Key Points:Designs, proportions, dimensions, and hanging methods for this category are governed by strict regulatory standards and cannot be altered at will. Before ordering, confirm the specifications per the applicable standard — we produce to standard templates.

2. Institutional & Branding Flags

Corporate flags, factory flags, school flags, class flags, club flags, association flags. Printed with the organization's logo and name, used for factory grounds, office buildings, and campus display.

Key Points:For logos with thick lines, embroidery delivers a more premium look; for those with gradients or fine text, heat transfer is recommended to keep small lettering from getting muddied by embroidery.

3. Commercial Advertising Flags

Category Typical Uses Accessories
Water-Filled Blade Flags (Street Banners) Grand openings, events, roadside promotion Comes with water-filled base
Beach Flags (Feather Flags / Teardrop Flags) Trade shows, storefront traffic Streamlined pole + base
Hanging Banners Overhead hanging in malls and showrooms Hanging hardware
Handheld Mini Flags Event cheering, trade show giveaways Plastic handle / wooden handle
Tour Guide Flags Tour group identification Handheld pole
Triangular Bunting Grand openings, celebration decor Strung on rope

4. Ceremonial & Commemorative

Presentation banners, sports meet team flags, exchange gift flags, table flags (small flags for negotiation tables and conference desks), indoor standing ceremonial flags.

Key Points:These are mostly viewed up close indoors, so fabric feel and sheen matter more than weather resistance. Common choices include satin, sateen, and pure cotton.

5. Maritime Signal Flags

Designed for vessels, including ensign flags, signal communication flags, and bow flags. Signal flags are supplied as a full set,46 flags per set, used for maritime communication, ceremonies, and identification.

Key Points:The marine environment demands resistance to both salt spray and strong winds. We recommend double 6 nylon (Nylon 66) or 420D oxford, with double-stitched edges and reinforced header seams.

6. Traditional & Vintage Styles

Vintage battle flags, dragon flags, family name flags, teahouse and tavern banners, and costume props for film and TV — mostly used in cultural tourism sites, film productions, and folk events.

Key Points:These emphasize authentic form and a distressed finish. Thick, durable oxford works well for prop flags that get moved and handled repeatedly.

II. By Shape & Style

Shape Description Common Types
Rectangular Flags The most versatile format National flags, corporate flags, and advertising flags
Feather flags (swallowtail flags) Angled tail with V-shaped cut Street banners, storefront traffic flags
Beach flags (custom streamlined shapes) Feather shape, teardrop shape Trade shows, retail stores
Triangle flags Triangle bunting, guide triangle flags Celebration decor, guide flags
